A local optometrist is urging diabetics to get their eyes checked at least once a year.
November is Diabetic Eye Disease Month, and Shari Edey of Courts Optical says a lot of people do not realise high sugar levels can lead to conditions that affect their vision.
She says some people may experience blurriness, difficulty recognising faces and colours not seeming as bright, and think they just need to change their glasses.
In reality, she says it could be a condition such as glaucoma.
