A local nursing home help agency is seeking approval from the Ministry of Health to help those people being mistreated or neglected in home isolation.
Caribbean Home Help wants to assist in this regard on the heels of reports of COVID-positive individuals in some cases being forced out of their homes by family members – an issue which speaks to COVID-19 stigma in the community here.
Chief Executive Officer, Paul Marshall, tells the Morning Report there’s been growing demand for home help services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He reveals he’s now getting calls to help individuals who were in the home isolation programme and explains how his agency would approach the situation.
Caribbean Home Help has about 60 active trained nurses on its roster and about 40 additional nurses on stand-by.
Patient Safety Coordinator, Amanda Alfred, says the company’s recruitment drive speaks to the need for the type of service offered.
