The decision to expel Akanni McDowell from the National Union of Public Workers stands because the former President was a no show at a special general meeting reconvened last evening at 5:00.
Acting General Secretary Richard Green told Morning Report they allowed the 50 minute grace period for McDowell’s arrival.
The meeting was then convened and chaired by President Kimberley Agard.
The question was asked if there was any representative to present the appeal on his behalf and there was not.
Mr. Greene says as a result, the matter at hand could not be dealt with and it was put to a vote. The general membership voted to dismiss the appeal.
This was McDowell’s final appeal.
