As the aging population continues to grow on island, so does the impact of falls as a serious medical issue.
The situation is one the Barbados Association of Retired Persons (BARP) is hoping to bring greater attention to.
It will be doing so through an ‘Impact of Falls’ seminar set for this evening on the Zoom platform.
General Physician from Colombia, Dr. Maria Paula Barrera is one of the medical partners working with BARP on the seminar.
She says some falls are linked to medication.
Speaking on CBC TV8s Mornin’ Barbados, Dr. Barrera noted exercise is important for the elderly.
