Government Senator, Gregory Nicholls wants the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and polyclinics to be compensated for the medical care provided to people for personal injury, and work-related or car accidents.
He suggests it’s not fair to the state and is proposing that regulations be reworked making it mandatory where an insurance claim is paid out, the funds are returned to the National Insurance Scheme.
Senator Nicholls is also pressing for a revisit of the medical standard where people covered by the NIS are considered to be either invalids or disabled.
