Canada remains a steadfast supporter of multilateral and regional institutions in Barbados and the Caribbean.
It sees the efforts of these international partners as critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Caribbean and beyond.
The Honourable Harjit Sajjan, Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada, on his trip to Barbados, met with regional heads of United Nations (UN) agencies, including the UN Women Representative, the International Monetary Fund Resident Representative and the UN Caribbean Resident Coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean
Together, they discussed challenges and opportunities to achieve the SDGs in the Caribbean.
Canada also reiterated its commitment to support regional efforts in priority areas, including climate change, disaster preparedness and response, and gender equality.
