Barbados records 186 new COVID-19 cases

A total of 186 new COVID-19 cases, 85 males and 101 females, were recorded on Sunday, February 20, from the 947 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The cases comprised 46 people under the age of 18, and 140 who were 18 years and older.

There were 96 people in isolation facilities, and 3,151 in home isolation.

An 89-year-old unvaccinated woman died from the viral illness on Sunday.

As at February 20, the virus had claimed 311 lives.

The public health laboratory has carried out 577,602 tests since February 2020, and recorded 53,884 COVID-19 cases (25,026 males and 28,858 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 159,837 (70 per cent of the eligible population).  The total number of fully vaccinated people is 148,947 (55 per cent of the total population or 65.2 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those people who are 12 years and older.
