Barbados records 334 new COVID-19 cases

The number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded on Monday, May 23, was 334 – 148 males and 186 females. The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 1, 198 tests.

The new cases consist of 78 people under the age of 18, and 256 who were 18 years and older. There are now 67 individuals in isolation facilities and 3,363 in home isolation. Three deaths were recorded.

The public health laboratory has carried out 681,391 tests since February 2020 and recorded 79,383 cases (36,248 males and 43,135 females) of COVID-19. To date, 443 deaths have been recorded.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 162,273 (71.1 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of individuals who are fully vaccinated is 152,647 (56.3 per cent of the total population or 66.8 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those people who are 12 years and older.
