Health officials in the Dominican Republic say the Mu variant of COVID-19 which the World Health Organization is monitoring, was recorded in the country in May.
The variant was identified in four provinces.
National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Ronald Skewes assured this variant had not been detected in the sequences that have been done after that date.
Since its first identification in Colombia in January 2021, there have been a few sporadic reports of cases.
