The family of a former national footballer is appealing for help in securing life-saving cancer treatment for him.
21-year-old Dishon Howell was recently diagnosed with aggressive lymphoma.
His mother Natasha Howell told CBC’s Mornin’ Barbados when he first started to complain of pain, he saw several doctors.
But it was only after being admitted to a hospital in the United States and following numerous, biopsies that the diagnosis was made.
After two rounds of chemotherapy, Dishon was transferred from the US back to Barbados.
A fundraising campaign has been launched to help the family of the former St. Leonard’s Boys’ School student raise roughly 200 thousand dollars to purchase medication which is unavailable locally or regionally.
An account has been set up in Dishon’s name at RBC Royal Bank, and the Barbados Cancer Society can also be contacted to facilitate donations.
Ms Howell is also appealing for help setting up a GoFundMe page to assist in the effort.
