KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, CMC – Police say a video being circulating on social media showing a number of young men sexually assaulting a young female was not recorded in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, Trevor “Buju” Bailey, said that the video was recorded in another country and that charges may have been brought in the country where the video was recorded.

Bailey told reporters that the police had launched an investigation into the matter, adding “we have not been able to confirm that that took place here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

“In fact, I know that several Caribbean territories launched investigations to ascertain whether or not it occurred on their shores as well,” said Bailey, who is also the officer in charge of the Sexual Offences Unit.

“I believe with some certainty an arrest was made on a foreign soil in respect to that video. So, it is not a Vincentian video, it is not an offence that was committed on our soil. But, in fact, it was elsewhere and the authorities there … have dealt with that video,” he told reporters.
