WASHINGTON, CMC – U.S. President Joe Biden will discuss the security situation in Haiti and deepening bilateral economic ties with his counterpart from the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, during a meeting on Thursday at the White House.
The meeting is being held as last month, the Dominican Republic that shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti, announced measures to strengthen control at its border amid a dispute over the construction of a canal from the Massacre River, which straddles the border between the two nations.
During the meeting, Biden and Abinader will also discuss the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity Leaders’ Summit, where the United States, the Dominican Republic, and other regional partners will deepen our collective economic engagement to create a more integrated and prosperous Americas.
