Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley has reiterated her calls for strong international voice and leadership to create a new global order that will transform the current system and level the playing field for small islands like Barbados.
Delivering the inaugural World Trade Organization’s Presidential Lecture in Geneva, she said what is needed now is the political will to fuel the transformation needed.
She’s called on the WTO to spearhead this move to create opportunities for fairness.
She told the gathering of states, while a small number of countries set rules and standards for the rest of the world, there needs to be a strong voice that defends the international trade system.
The Prime Minister delivered a wide ranging lecture that touched on topics including climate change and the unfair taxation playing field.
She says the solution is not to give up on multilateralism.
