2022 motor racing season speeds off this weekend

The 2022 local motor racing season speeds off this weekend with a double header and a new championship to boot.

The R5 Rally Championship, presented by First Citizens, was launched Monday and will get going on Saturday and Sunday with speed events hosted by the Motoring Club of Barbados Incorporated.

The first event will be a hill test at Bushy Park and then on Sunday is an autocross double-header from Cliff to Society in St. John.

The R5 championship will be contested across a range of disciplines – special stage rallies, speed events, drag racing and autocross.

Speaking at the media launch at Bushy Park in St. Philip, Championship Manager and Vice President of the Barbados Motoring Federation David Williams said the action will definitely get the attention of the spectators.

Williams also revealed some of the other aspects of the new R5 championship.
