72 year old man succumbs to COVID-19

A 72 year old Barbadian male succumbed to COVID-19 yesterday.

His passing takes the number of COVID-19 related deaths in Barbados to 493.

Minister of Health and Wellness, Ian Gooding-Edghill, has extended condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.

In addition, a total of 302 new COVID-19 cases (121 males and181 females) were identified out of the 858 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Laboratory yesterday.

The cases comprise 50 individuals under the age of 18 and 252 who are 18 years and older.

There are 64 people in isolation facilities and 3,064 in home isolation.

Since the start of the pandemic, Barbados has recorded 91,895 COVID-19 cases (41,819 males and 50,076 females) from 727,991 tests.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, 162,953 people (71.3 per cent of the eligible population) have received at least one dose. To date, 154,001 individuals (56.8 per cent of the total population or 67.4 per cent of the eligible population) are fully vaccinated.
