Action, not promises, needed on climate crisis

As world leaders prepare for the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference of Parties in Dubai in December, Barbados wants action to mitigate against climate change.

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley reiterated time is of the essence, stressing no country is excluded from the impact of the climate crisis.

The Barbadian leader was speaking at the 14th Annual Meetings of the New Champions in Tianjin, China as part of a panel on “Braving the Headwinds: Rewiring Growth Amid Fragility” hosted by the World Economic Forum.

Ms. Mottley intends to press for a meeting between the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the COP28 President and private sector entities.

She told the forum finance is critical, revealing the private sector funding required is over one trillion dollars.
