Three Government MPs are among a list of distinguished attorneys-at-law granted the honour of Senior Counsel by President, Her Excellency, the Most Honourable Dame Sandra Mason, acting on the advice of Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley.
They are Minister of Home Affairs and Information Wilfred Abrahams, Member of Parliament for St. James North, Edmund Hinkson and Speaker of the House of Assembly His Honour Arthur Holder.
The others appointed are Tammy Bryan, Gillian Clarke, Rudolph Greendige, Kathy-Ann Hamblin, Anika Jackson, Stephen Lashley, Angela Mitchell-Gittens, Alliston Seale and Liesel Weekes.
Two of the new Senior Counsels have described the designation as an honour, which is a crowning to their time working in the profession.
For Minister Abrahams, he is especially pleased to be among the first batch in Barbados’ Republic status.
Meanwhile, Speaker of the House Arthur Holder, says his wife and children sacrificed a lot in his 23 years and he is happy to receive the honour.
He pointed out that the honour is not his alone, but that several people believed in him along the way.
