Barbadians told to be on the lookout for suspicious transactions on accounts

Thousands of Barbadians are being told to be on the lookout for suspicious transactions on their bank or credit union accounts.

This as some financial institutions investigate reports of suspicious transactions from customers.

CBC understands the Bankers’ Association of Barbados, representatives from the credit union movement and other key stakeholders have held meetings on the matter but they have declined to comment on the record at the moment.

However, a number of institutions have contacted customers notifying them of the issue and outlining the necessary steps should they detect any strange activity.

Additionally some of them, including CIBC FirstCaribbean and the BWU Co-operative Credit Union Limited, have posted tips on their respective social media channels.
