Barbadians urged to invest in medicinal cannabis industry

Barbadians are once more being urged to invest in the local medicinal cannabis industry to help reduce the cost of the product locally.

Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Medicinal Cannabis Licensing Authority (BMCLA) Shanika Roberts-Odle made the point during an exclusive interview with CBC News.

Roberts-Odle acknowledges it is cheaper to purchase a three-ounce bottle of cannabis oil at $60 from the black market, compared to $267 for an eight-ounce bottle of cannabis oil prescribed by a medical professional.

Additionally, Ms. Roberts-Odle notes with the high cost of the prescribed products, the BMCLA is currently in conversations with insurance companies to cover the drug, which is not currently being done.
