Barbados’ Ambassador to CARICOM, David Comissiong intends to work to boost bilateral ties with The Bahamas.
Mr Comissiong is to present his credentials to the Bahamian government to be appointed Barbados Non-Resident High Commissioner to that country.
He says the two countries have maintained a close relationship since the 1970s, but The Bahamas and Barbados need to be brought closer together.
Ambassador Comissiong was a guest on the “Conversations on CARICOM” segment of CBC TV 8’s Mornin’ Barbados.
He sees potential for Barbados and The Bahamas to collaborate in various areas including tourism, climate change and the blue economy.
The Ambassador also acknowledged that air transport is key.
