Barbados is among the first two Caribbean countries up for review come 2024 as the World Bank prepares to issue its new Business Ready (B-READY) report.
The other is Jamaica.
B-READY, which will focus on the business systems of up to a hundred and eighty countries, replaces the former Doing Business Report.
Alternate Executive Director for Canada, Ireland and the Caribbean at the World Bank Group Christopher Sinckler says a complete review and reform has been undertaken after significant flaws were found.
He explains what’s new in the B-READY report.
Mr. Sinckler, a former Minister of Finance, was at the time delivering the 8th Leo Leacock Memorial Lecture.
During the question and answer segment, he urged small business associations to band together and forward a proposal to CCRIF SPC, formerly the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Financing Facility for coverage under the Risk Insurance Facility.
