Barbados largely spared by TS Bret

June 23, 2023

Though Barbados was largely spared major damage from Tropical Storm Bret, the system left its mark, lashing the island with rain and strong winds.

The country has returned to some normalcy and the all clear issued by Minister of Home Affairs and Information, Wilfred Abrahams just after 6:15 this morning.

Bus service by the Barbados Transport Board resumed at 7:30 a.m., and the Grantley Adams International Airport was reopened at 7:00.

Assessments on schools found there was no damage, and while there is no school today, students sitting the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) Communication Studies exam were accommodated.

Minister Abrahams says technology was vital in allowing the team comprising the officers from the Barbados Port Authority, Police and the Defence Force to complete the initial damage assessment.
