Government and health officials led by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley were on hand at the Grantley Adams International Airport earlier this afternoon to welcome and receive the final tranche of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines secured through the COVAX facility.

This is the second shipment of vaccines in as many weeks, as the National Vaccination Programme received an injection of over 70,000 Pfizer vaccines last week.

Barbados received its first shipment of just over 33,000 doses through the COVAX facility in early April.

The second shipment through the global vaccine sharing facility was made on May 11th.

100,800 doses of the vaccine were allocated to Barbados through the COVAX facility.
