With reports of the UK being in the middle of its worst bird flu outbreak, the Barbados Agricultural Society is monitoring developments in the European country as the threats are real.
The current strain, H5N1 is said to be dangerous and contagious with a high mortality rate.
British media is reporting wild birds and poultry are at risk.
Bird flu is also being blamed for an egg shortage there.
Chief Executive Officer of the BAS, James Paul says the situation is worrying as countries that were thought to be food secure are not.
He says the bird flu is causing headaches for agricultural officials in Britain.
