President of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anthony Branker, believes government and the private sector will be able to hammer out a new price compact in the new year.
During this year the two sides came up with an agreement that was intended to shield consumers from the spiralling prices for some goods, with an emphasis on adjusting the markup on essential items used by most households.
Speaking during an interview with CBC News, he says while some local businesses continue to encounter high prices globally, a new compact is still very much possible.
Noting that some people seemed unsure about how the compact was intended to work, Mr. Branker also reflected on the success of the current arrangement so far.
