After a hectic first half of the year, fire officials now say there’s been a fall-off in the number of reported fires.
By mid-June, the Fire Service had responded to 964 fire incidents for the year, of which, 37 were for private residences, 514 grass fires, and 237 rubbish fires.
This represented a significant increase when compared to the 665 calls received for all of 2022.
Speaking during a tour of the soon-to-be opened Bridgetown Port Fire Station, Chief Fire Office Errol Maynard, while unable to give exact numbers, confirmed there has been a reduction, and gave possible reasons.
