Several recommendations were put forward by supporters of the Barbados Labour Party Council and its members as they engaged with the Constitutional Reform Commission.
The ideas weren’t short in coming as members representing the youth, the disabled and the elderly took part in the stakeholder engagement at BLP Headquarters in the City.
Members of the public, through a series of recent public meetings, also had the opportunity to make suggestions for inclusion in the new Constitution of Barbados.
The BLP members touched on the areas of sexual autonomy, good governance and criminal justice.
Youth Advocate Roshanna Trim, in her submission, focused on the recognition of political parties and said the right to join a trade union should be a feature in the constitution.
Meanwhile, Third Vice Chairman of the BLP, Kurt Haynes reminded attendees that a nation cannot be built without the empowerment of its citizens.
