The Barbados Labour Party is paying tribute to former Government Senator Joycelyn Patricia ‘Pat’ Thorington-Alleyne, who passed away yesterday.
In a statement Party Chairman His Honour Senator the Most Honourable Reginald Farley says Ms. Thorington-Alleyne made a significant contribution to national development in both the private sector and political life, at many levels.
She served as General Secretary of the Barbados Labour Party from 1994 – 1996 and was the Party’s candidate in the 1994 & 1999 general elections in the constituency of St. John.
Ms. Thorington-Alleyne was appointed to the Senate in 1999 and served until 2001.
She also became the first manager of the Barbados National Oil Terminal.
Mr. Farley notes that during her time as manager of the company she increased fuel storage capacity at the airport and led construction development projects for this state-owned enterprise.
