The Barbados Light and Power has started to implement higher electricity rates on a temporary basis.
The Fair Trading Commission granted the utility company’s request for an interim rate increase effective September 16th.
The Commission ruled the interim rate would be capped at 50% of what the Light and Power is requesting for all customers, during the ongoing hearing before the FTC.
In a statement, Light and Power’s Manager of Customer Care, Rodney Dottin, said over the last few days, the company had been reviewing the FTC’s decision to ensure its actions are in keeping with the order.
