Barbados and CARICOM have told a high-level meeting about the linkages between improved access to financing for development and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs cannot and should not be ignored.
The 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women heard from Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Kirk Humphrey that the eradication of poverty is central to reducing women’s vulnerability to climate change and other adversities.
He says programmes and policies must focus on building the capacity of women and girls in a holistic manner.
Mr. Humphrey who spoke on behalf of CARICOM signalled the bloc’s unwavering commitment to the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all women and girls.
