Minister of State in the Ministry of Health with Responsibility for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) Dr. Sonia Browne is encouraging more charity minded individuals and organisations to continue to make donations to the Hospital, as it helps in the overall delivery of health care to all Barbadians.
She made the comments as the Hospital received a donation of an optical coherence tomography (OCT) machine from the Sail for Sight charity.
The new piece of equipment has been described as an important addition for the Hospital.
Head of the Hospital’s Ophthalmology Department Dr. Sherwin Benskin described the acquisition of the new piece of equipment as cause for celebration in terms of detailed imaging of the eye, and it now enhances the eye care services that the QEH is able to directly provide.
Meanwhile, Sail for Sight Chairman Dick Stoute says the donation of the OCT machine represented the culmination of discussions that started back in 2018 and involved thousands of people.
