The Healthy Caribbean Coalition is amplifying its call for Barbados and CARICOM to implement octagonal front-of-package warning labels.
It has launched its “Give Us Warning Labels” Campaign, ahead of a vote by CARICOM on the type of warning labels to be introduced.
That vote is set to take place on October 14th.
Policy Advisor to the Healthy Caribbean Coalition Nicole Foster, said the campaign is being rolled at a critical stage, as the region battles an NCD epidemic.
Ms. Foster explains the new campaign will help policymakers and consumers understand why octagonal front-of-packaging warning labels are the preferred model.
She says many people are unable to make informed purchases based on the existing labels.
