Change of designation

Those members of the local Bar who have attained the title of Queen’s Counsel are free to change their designation to K.C., King’s Counsel since last Thursday’s passing of Queen Elizabeth ll.

A well placed source within the Supreme Court said all those who were given the honour prior to Barbados becoming a republic can take on the name change automatically as it was an honour they earned.

However, going forward, all those within the legal fraternity who rise to these heights will be referred to as Senior Counsel, S.C.

CBC has also been reliably informed that sometime next week, the Chief Justice is expected to make an official statement regarding the matter.

The Supreme Court of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States sent correspondence this week that the change to K.C. should now be used.
