Church worried about school violence

March 17, 2024

The recent spate of violence among the school population has caught the attention of the Church.

Chairman of the Barbados Christian Council Reverend Dr. Cicely Athill-Horsford says the Church is concerned that violence in schools raised its ugly head this week, leading to at least two students being seriously injured in separate incidents.

Reverend Athill-Horsford says in response to the incidents, the Church is willing to commit its resources to help the schools get the situation under control.

Superintendent of the Moravian Church Reverend Ezra Parris says the Church must take charge of its responsibility to communicate a different perspective to the youth.

Head of the Barbados Evangelical Association Bishop Dr. Winston Clarke says the violence infiltrating the schools is a result of the environment and parenting skills which exist in the home.
