Barbados believes the message of the impact of climate change on small island developing states (SIDS) is slowly reaching the big polluters which Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley says will also be impacted.
She however notes the time frame for SIDS is smaller, as these states will be affected before cities like Shanghai in China and Miami in the USA.
Ms. Mottley, in an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, warned that the climate crisis facing Barbados is deeply perilous, noting the crisis is a code red to China, the US, Europe, and to India.
Ms. Mottley stressed moral strategic leadership is critical at this time.
The Barbadian leader says there’s the possibility of societies being forced to leave as a result of climate change.
