There’s concern Barbadians are behaving as if HIV does not exist.
It’s coming from Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs Kirk Humphrey.
He spoke about the issue to members of the media at the HIV/AIDS Commission Man Aware Back to School event at the corner of Villa Road and Warner’s Road, Brittons Hill.
Mr. Humphrey has not been able to give the latest statistics on HIV/AIDS but he’s urging people to engage in appropriate behaviour to curb the spread of the virus.
At the event, health checks were provided through a partnership with LiveWell Clinic.
Free haircuts were also given to students ahead of their return to school next week.
Chairman of the Commission Anderson Kellman says initiatives like Man Aware help them to tackle issues like HIV/AIDS stigma.
