With the advent of new pathogens, infections and viruses, Barbados has warned that the world faces the risk of reverting to times of the middle ages if countries don’t get serious about medical research.
Back then, according to Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, large numbers of populations died because of an inability to respond.
She told a panel discussion that formed part of the Paris Peace Forum, research is critical to saving lives.
The topic “Climate Crisis in a Health Crisis: Accelerating Health Systems Adaptation to Climate Change”.
Focusing on climate change, Ms. Mottley says countries will face the reality of the consequences of failing to act against climate change.
