Cyber security training opportunity

Another avenue is being provided for Barbadians interested in working in the cyber security field.

That’s because the TVET Council will be rolling out a training programme in partnership with an institution from the Dominican Republic.

Executive Director, Henderson Eastmond tells CBC News it’s set to get underway in September.

Mr. Eastmond confirmed the Council, in partnership with the island’s training institutions, will be rolling out National and Caribbean Vocational Qualifications in several areas at levels 3 and above.

The courses in animation, e-commerce, social media management, cyber security and network administration will target people at the supervisory and managerial levels.

Noting the subjects being introduced are based on global demand, Mr. Eastmond explains producing qualified people in these areas will also help to diversify the local economy.
