January 14, 2024

People are being urged to take steps to minimise the possibility of being slipped the party drug Rohypnol.

The advice from the Substance Abuse Prevention Officer with the National Council on Substance Abuse, Makeda Bourne. She says when added to a liquid, Rohypnol, commonly referred to as the “date rape drug”, does not alter the way it looks, smells or tastes. Ms bourne therefore urges people to pay close attention and keep their drinks covered in social settings.

The Substance Abuse Prevention Officer was a guest on Q100.7 FM’s “Let’s Talk About It” radio programme, where she encouraged people who believe they’ve been given Rohypnol to seek medical attention.
