Unknown to many, dentists have been assisting other medical practitioners in managing patients with sleeping disorders and sleep apnea.
Given how the condition affects patients, training is also being provided locally and regionally on handling sleep apnea. The British Association of Dental Sleep Medicine has been providing the training, recently online and now in person.
Local dental surgeon, Dr. Alison Mayers, revealed on CBC TV8’s Mornin’ Barbados the training has been beneficial. The visiting President of the British Association of Dental Sleep Medicine, Dr Aditi Desi added that there are many conditions associated with sleep apnea and doctors have to assess the symptoms.
