Deputy Speaker to appear in court on rape charge

Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, Neil Rowe has been charged with rape. 

According to Police Public Relations Officer, acting Inspector Rodney Inniss, “Police personnel at the Oistins Police Station have charged Neil Gabriel Rowe, 43 years, of #658 Kingsland Terrace, Christ Church with the offence of rape.”

The short statement from the Barbados Police Service this afternoon, said Rowe is expected to appear in the Oistins Magistrate’s Court on Monday, October 24, 2022.

Rowe, who is Member of Parliament (MP) for St Michael North West, is expected to be replaced my MP for St. Thomas, Cynthia Forde. 

On Saturday, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley announced a Cabinet reshuffle, and indicated that Forde would be nominated for the post of Deputy Speaker of the House on Tuesday.
