Diabetics urged to maintain eye & vision health

As people with diabetes are at increased risk of developing eye problems compared to the general population, an ophthalmologist is stressing the importance of regular eye examinations.

The message was conveyed by Dr. Charles Pierce to Barbadians during the latest Your Health, Your Action series.

The topic ‘Diabetes: the Eyes Have It, Complications of the Disease’.

It was not an easy road for Pedro Belgrave, who was diagnosed with diabetes in 2006 and later developed eye problems in 2012.

He shared his challenges after being diagnosed with diabetic eye disease.
