Outspoken attorney-at-law Douglas Trotman has passed away.
Trotman was living and working in Nevis but had recently returned home to Barbados.
Over the years, Trotman had become well known for his social activism and willingness to do cases pro bono for clients he believed were being disadvantaged.
He tutored Administrative Law in the Faculty of Law, Cave Hill Campus, and Contract Law at the Barbados Community College.
He unsuccessfully contested the St Philip South Constituency as an independent in the 2008 General Election.
At one time he was a vocal lobbyist for the removal of red tape to allow medicinal cannabis to be more readily available in Barbados.
He leaves to mourn six children.
