Barbados continues to deal with a low quantity or an outright shortage in some cases of critical drugs.

This is according to the president of the umbrella body for pharmacists on the island, Yolan Pantin. The Barbados Pharmaceutical Society (BPS) head says pharmacists across the island are working together and sharing supplies but as quickly as stock comes, it’s off the shelves.

She notes that medication used for diabetes is not the only drug that pharmacists are having supply challenges with, while adding that a particular drug prescribed for the treatment of anxiety and psychiatry issues is finally back on the market but not at all strengths.

Efforts to reach the Acting Director of the Barbados Drug Service for comments were unsuccessful.
