A dust haze advisory is in effect for Barbados.
Slight to moderate concentrations of Saharan dust are forecasted to affect Barbados from tomorrow evening.
The Barbados Metorgirical Service stated that model data indicates that haze concentrations will thicken into Wednesday and persist into Thursday.
However, the dust haze is expected to decrease heading into the weekend but slight to moderate dust haze will persist across Barbados and the marine area.
The Met Office advised that persons with respiratory issues or allergies should ensure that they travel with, or have close at hand all prescribed relevant medications.
Marine users should especially monitor the situation closely as visibility is expected to deteriorate.
This alert message is valid from 6 a.m. February 7 and will be terminated on the 8th at 6 p.m. or sooner if conditions warrant.
The service says a dust-haze advisory is issued when dust haze has already or is forecast to reduce visibility to between 5 to 10km within 36 hours.
