With the World Health Organisation raising alarm about the health of millions across the globe, Barbados’ Ministry of Health and Wellness is playing its part in helping to combat the rising challenge of non-communicable diseases.

Come World Health Day, set to be observed on Saturday, a Wellness Fair will be held at the Barbados Defence Force’s Mobile Field Hospital, located at the National Stadium.

Acting Senior Health Promotions Officer Donna Barker, says several partners, including the Pan American Health Organisation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Ross University are onboard.

She called attention to the meal preparations of some Barbadians as she encouraged citizens to adopt healthy habits.

She was a guest on CBC TV8’s Mornin’ Barbados.

This year’s World Health Day theme is ‘My Health, My Right’.

Advisor on NCDs and Mental Health at PAHO Dr. Taralene Malcolm says it’s important for people to recognise health is a basic human right.
