After extensive consultations, recommendations to improve the lives of members of the disabled community could be submitted to Government by the end of next month.
That’s according to the Advisory Committee for Improving the Lives of People with Disabilities, which is hoping to wrap up its consultations shortly.
Chair Edmund Hinkson made the announcement as the Committee held a major consultation at the Warrens Office complex this morning.
That session also featured a discussion and examination of the findings presented by Professor Dwayne Devonish.
Since inception, the Committee has been active, hosting over 40 meetings with various groups.
Elder Affairs Minister Kirk Humphrey says the policy indicates Government is headed in the right direction. However, he says greater partnerships beyond legislation are needed to level the playing field for people living with disabilities.
