Elderly man perishes in fire

A man in his 90s died in a house fire in St. Lucy this afternoon.

Police are on the scene of the blaze that was reported about 1:00 p.m. at a home in Mount Johnson, near Josey Hill.

According to Police Communications and Public Affairs Officer, Inspector Rodney Inniss eight fire officers responded and outed the fire. However, the wood and wall property was destroyed.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, while police have started an unnatural death investigation into the matter, the statement from Inniss said. (PR)
