The nature of work is evolving and what employees are demanding is also changing.
Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Employers Confederation Sheena Mayers-Granville says as a result employers need to look at what they are putting on the table.
She was among a list of panellists during a discussion on Voluntarism and Collective Bargaining hosted by the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados last evening.
Ms. Mayers-Granville says young people for example are questioning things like making contributions to the NISSS, despite the social security it provides.
On the question of whether foreign companies have a problem with trade unions, Ms. Mayers-Granville says this is not a problem but many times these companies usually expect lawyers at the table instead of industrial relations practitioners.
