Garnes granted $10,000 bail after court appearance

Former Barbados Olympian Samuel Adolfus ‘Leo’ Garnes has been formally charged with Indecent Assault of a Minor.

54 year old Garnes, of Merricks, St. Philip, is alleged to have committed the offence October 2nd, 2022.

He appeared in the District ‘D’ Magistrate’s Court this morning before Magistrate Debra Beckles, and was granted bail to the tune of $10,000.

He is scheduled to reappear in court on February 15th, 2023.

This is not the first time Garnes has been before the courts. In 1999, he was found not guilty of a double-murder charge in Alabama, United States.

Garnes, who held five national track records, competed at the 1992 Barcelona Olympiad in the Men’s 5,000 metres. He is head coach of local track & field club Elite Distance, and he’s also a coach at the National Sports Council.
